entangled

so i told myself that i'll try and do a proper illustration for IF but having just gone through my sketchbook this one seems right. there are obvious reasons and there ones that probably aren't so clear. and that also leads me to think this one is right. one minutes life drawing poses, along with other people drawing with me, at ocad.

so here's painting number two of some old friends of mine. i got this done rather quickly in time to witness their new life begin together (congrats again!). i'm still finding my way with oil and while i can see things that i can really improve i can see things that i like and that have actually gotten better. i abandoned my more typical approach for the idea for the background in favour of something far simpler. it was suggested to me to find an antique frame which prompted this approach but the search was quite fruitless. a silver, slightly aged-looking frame was found though, which helped fit the concept.

i've actually had projects to work on without much time to proper doodle. the bulk of what i've drawn lately have occurred on the subway or at life drawing sessions. here's another session at ocad.

jeff hamada

jeff is a vancouver based artist who participated in converse's 1hund(red) initiative. hypebeast has a nice little interview with him about it and other stuff as well. he also designs apparel and various other things. give him a google. he also runs this other little site you might have heard of called BOOOOOOOM. he started this blog about a year and a half ago and now receives about two million pageviews a month. i'd say he's a pretty talented dude.
